  • Joining Instructions & F.A.Qs.

Its easy to get started - All you have to do is complete a Pre-Training Registration (below) and arrange your start date with Sensei (Teacher) via phone, email or visit us at the club.

The instructions below is not a commitment to continue after the trial classes end - just further info for those wanting to continue the classes.

1. How do I know if Goju Ryu karate is right for me? - You don't know until you try! So just have a go!

2. What should I wear? - For the first month, any loose fitting clothing i.e.: Tracksuit bottoms, T-Shirt, Gym clothes etc. SEE BELOW........

NO ZIPS.
NO BUTTONS.
NO EARRINGS.
NO JEWELLRY.
WEDDING RINGS MUST BE REMOVED.

ALL NAILS MUST BE CUT SHORT (Ladies included).

HANDS AND FEET MUST BE CLEAN FOR EVERY SESSION.
ANY CUTS OR FOOT INFECTION MUST BE COVERED AND PROTECTED.

3. What if I miss a session or go on holiday do I still pay my membership? - Yes you do, it is a membership fee, just like a gym.

- The training times are shown on the calendar page.

- The monthly fees are £22.50 per month.

- There aren't any contracts, just an expectation of you to set up a regular bank payment for the monthly fees to be paid on the 1st (or 2nd) of every month. Please see Sensei for a bank details form.

4. Do I need to bring anything? - Just bring appropriate clothing as above, a drink (plain water is advisable) and a sweat towel.

5. Where do I get them pyjamas that they all wear? - The Gi (pronounced 'Gee') is available through the club. The price varies on size and quality but is generally fairly inexpensive (see our STORE) and includes your first belt. It also includes our club badge which has to be sewn on (by you, I'm afraid. The same badge can be put onto a bigger suit/Gi when one is needed) You will not be required to purchase a Gi unless you decide to continue after your first month.

6. After the first month you will be required to apply for a licence. The first licence costs £30 and you will have to provide a passport style photograph (Selfie's are often good enough). The licence is renewed each year, this costs £20. Please see Sensei for a licence application form, or visit the STORE to buy the first licence.

7. What if I have more questions? - Feel free to ask Sensei or any of our instructors any specific questions, when appropriate! You should have many questions during your training and the answers will come in good time.

8. Before you attend your first session you must complete and submit the Pre-training Registration below and await a reply.

9. What if I don't want to continue training? - Please tell Sensei, maybe we can change your mind. If not, we will wish you All The Best for the future. Your monthly payments can be stopped by you- this is under your control.
